Haikou, April 19 (Xinhua) More than 800 elitists composed of governmental leaders, scholars and entrepreneurs are to meet in the scenic town of Bo’ao, Hainan in China, participating in Bo’ao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2005.

    There will be quite a lot of new participants in the conference, which shows BFA’s influence increased all over the world. The forum has become a high-level platform for international dialogues.

    Besides Jia Qinglin, Chairman of Chinese People's Political ConsultativeConference, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia, Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, King of Nepal, Lee Kuan Yew, Minister Mentor of Singapore and Karim Khalili, Vice President of Afghanistan, will take part in the conference.

    John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia and WolfgangSchuessel, Chancellor of Austria will appear at the forum. As leaders from out of Asia, their presence will catch much attention. The former will attend the special session of China and Australia--The Energy Future as an honorary guest and the latter will give a keynote speech of New Role of Asia and the Future of Asia-Europe Cooperation.

    Supachai Panitchpakdi, Director-General of the World Trade Organization among other leaders or former leaders of international organizations will present themselves at the conference.

    Martin Bartenstein, Austrian Federal Minister for Economy and Labour, Zhou Xiaochuan governor of People's Bank of China, Kazumasa Kusaka, Vice Minister for International Affairs, METI of Japan, and other ministers from 10 countries and regions will discuss over the Challenges for World Economic Growth, which is the first time in BFA’s history.

    As released by the BFA secretariat, more than 100 Senior Executives from multinational companies and regional headquarters of multinationals will appear at the annual conference, many of whom are from European and American companies including BMW, TNT and Microsoft.

    Meanwhile, BFA has become an important stage on which political issues between Asian countries are discussed. Yoriko Kawaguchi, special assistant to Prime Minister of Japan and Zheng Bijian, Chairman of China Reform Forum, and Moon-Soo Chung, advisor to the president for economic policy of Korea will probe into how the countries improve cooperation in Northeast Asia in the future.

    Since it is a non-official forum, BFA works as a perfect place for the discussion of sensitive issues, said Professor Yin Zhongyi, deputy president of China Institute for Reform and Development, a Hainan-based organization providing intellectual support for BFA.

    Consequently, the forum draws much attention of media, home and abroad. Till now, 370 or more journalists have applied and been registered for reporting the annual conference, among whom over 150 are from overseas. （Enditem）

    新华网海南频道４月１９日消息（记者王英诚、刘华）４月２２日至２４日，来自全球各地的８００多名政府要人、学界精英和企业领袖 将聚集在中国的一个南方小镇，出席博鳌亚洲论坛第四届年会。与往年相比，今年的与会者当中有许多都是新面孔。博鳌亚洲论坛影响力日益扩大，现已发展成为一个国际对话的高端平台。

    除了中国全国政协主席贾庆林以外，参加本届年会的亚洲国家政要还有马来西亚总理巴达维、尼泊尔国王贾南德拉、新加坡资政李光耀和阿富汗副总统卡里姆·哈利利等。

    博鳌亚洲论坛智力支持机构、中国（海南）改革发展研究院副院长殷仲仪教授说，博鳌亚洲论坛是一个开放性论坛，每年不断有来自政界、商界和学界的新面孔出现在论坛年会上，这足以说明论坛的国际地位正在逐年上升，同时也从一个侧面反映出亚洲的重要性正日益增强。

    随着经济全球化的不断深入，跨地区经济合作已成为日后经济发展的一大趋势。作为亚洲最著名的非官方高层论坛之一，博鳌亚洲论坛不仅聚集了亚洲政治、经济界中的众多精英，还吸引了不少来自亚洲以外国家和地区的各界领袖，为亚洲各国之间乃至亚欧各国之间的对话构建了一个平台，显示出非凡的魅力。

    在出席今年年会的各国元首中，澳大利亚总理霍华德和奥地利总理许赛尔的到场将会格外引人注目。霍华德将出席“中澳能源合作的未来”专题会，而许赛尔将就“亚洲的新角色和亚欧合作的未来”发表主旨演讲。

    此外，世界贸易组织总干事素帕猜等国际机构领导人也将出席年会。奥地利经济和劳工部长马丁·巴尔腾施泰因（Martin Bartenstein）、中国人民银行行长周小川、韩国总统秘书室经济辅佐官丁文秀、日本经济产业审议官日下一正、伊朗外交部长卡迈尔·哈拉齐以及香港特区政府财政司司长唐英年等１０个国家和地区的部长级官员将针对“世界经济增长的挑战”展开对话，这在博鳌亚洲论坛的历史上还是第一次。

    据博鳌亚洲论坛秘书处介绍，出席本届年会的大型跨国企业全球总裁、副总裁、亚洲总裁将有１００多人，是历届年会出席人数最多的一次。在这些商业精英中，有许多都是来自欧美国家的跨国公司，如德国宝马集团、美国微软公司以及荷兰TNT邮政集团等。与此同时，博鳌亚洲论坛还成为商讨亚洲国际政治问题的重要场合。韩国总统经济顾问丁文秀、日本内阁总理大臣辅佐官川口顺子以及中国改革开放论坛理事长郑必坚将在年会上共同探讨东北亚国家将如何面向未来，扩大合作的问题。殷仲仪教授说，论坛的非官方性质为讨论地区敏感问题提供了一个绝佳的平台。

    另外，论坛更是吸引了中外媒体的广泛关注。目前已有３７０多名记者报名采访年会，其中包括来自境外５０多家媒体的１５０多名记者。专家评论说，博鳌亚洲论坛作为亚洲最大的非官方高层论坛吸引着越来越多的各国各界知名人士与会，在国际政治与经济事务中发挥着不可替代的作用。（完）
